Data center equipment does not arrive on a convenient schedule, and it rarely arrives one piece at a time. Generators, transformers, switchgear, UPS systems and cooling plant land in waves, often owner-furnished, often with an OEM technician on site and a commissioning date that was fixed before the slab was poured. The contractor who receives that equipment, moves it, sets it and hands it over ready for the licensed trades decides whether the commissioning calendar holds.
That handling is AK's scope. The crew that offloads your equipment is the crew that rigs it, sets it, levels it, anchors it and grouts it, with the same project lead through mechanical completion and turnover. Trade-specific connections, systems integration and startup are completed by the responsible licensed contractors, OEM representatives and commissioning teams, with handoffs defined before the first delivery.
Our data center work is built on industrial rigging and equipment installation experience since 1981, not on a claim to have been in data centers that long. What transfers directly is the discipline: written lift plans, engineered critical lifts, precision alignment, documented anchoring and torque verification, and crews who are used to working inside active construction and operating facilities under site-specific safety, access and lockout or tagout requirements.
What We Offload, Stage, Rig and Position
AK crews offload, stage, rig, and position generators, transformers, UPS systems, PDUs, switchgear, cooling equipment, server racks, electrical or mechanical skids and related infrastructure using methods matched to the equipment, access, and site conditions. We perform equipment assembly, leveling, alignment, and anchoring within AK's awarded scope, following approved drawings, OEM requirements, and site procedures.
Data center cooling equipment installation covers the mechanical setting of chillers, CRAH and CRAC units, dry coolers, pumps and heat exchangers. Liquid-cooling equipment installation covers coolant distribution units and rear-door heat exchangers, where AK is the RDHx installation contractor setting, leveling and positioning the units for the responsible trades to connect. UPS and PDU equipment installation runs to the same receive, set, anchor and verify method, and as a BESS and PCS installation contractor we set battery containers, PCS units and inverter skids the same way. What We Do on Data Center Projects
Preconstruction planning and sequencing
Site logistics, access routes, floor-load checks, lift planning and an installation sequence built around the commissioning schedule, phased with the GC, the EPC and the OEMs before the first truck arrives.
Equipment receiving, inspection and staging
Coordinated deliveries, offloading of heavy and oversized equipment, inspection and documentation on arrival, inventory control and staging in the sequence the installation plan demands. OFCI equipment receiving and installation is the normal case on data center work: owner-furnished, contractor-installed equipment handled by one crew from the truck to the pad.
Heavy and precision rigging
Hydraulic skidding, gantry lifting, Versa-Lift, forklift and crane-supported installations, all operated by AK riggers under a reviewed lift plan. Generator rigging and installation and transformer rigging and installation are the everyday heavy picks; we handle industrial machinery and assemblies ranging from 10,000 pounds to 1.5 million pounds, the largest on hydraulic gantries with engineered critical-lift plans.
Setting, leveling, anchoring, grouting and alignment
Equipment placed, leveled and aligned to the manufacturer's tolerances, then anchored and grouted so it stays there. Anchor bolt installation, torque verification and base plate work are recorded and handed over with the job.
Mechanical assembly, welding, fabrication and structural support
Mechanical assembly of skids and modular units, welding and fabrication of frames, platforms and equipment-support systems, and the structural steel that mission-critical equipment sits on.
Repetitive and phased multi-building deployments
The same crews, the same method and the same documentation across every hall, building and phase of a campus, so the tenth generator is set exactly like the first.
Equipment relocation and replacement in active facilities
For equipment relocations and work in active facilities, AK coordinates access, lift paths, floor-loading requirements, protection, laydown, sequencing, transportation, receiving, mechanical reinstallation, and trade handoffs. Trade-specific disconnections and reconnections are completed by the responsible licensed contractors.
OEM installation and field-service support
Rigging and mechanical support for the OEM's own installation and field-service teams, on their schedule and to their specification.
Startup, punch-list and commissioning support
Pre-start walkdowns, mechanical completion checks, punch-list closure and turnover documentation for AK's scope, working with the commissioning team responsible for startup rather than in their way.
